Two giant pandas made their grand arrival on Saturday afternoon at the zoo of Wuhan, capital city of central China's Hubei Province.

The pandas, hailing from the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda in southwest China's Sichuan Province, represent a significant addition to the zoo's family.

The male, named"Wulin," came into this world on June 28, 2019, while the female,"Mengmeng", was born on Oct. 17 of the same year. They mark the second pair of pandas of opposite genders to grace Wuhan, following the beloved"Dudu" and"Chunchun."

According to Wuhan Zoo, the pandas will be treated to a diet mirroring their hometown favorites, which includes bamboo, bamboo shoots, carrots, apples, steamed buns, honey and more. The bamboo shoots are air-freighted directly from Sichuan to ensure freshness.

To ensure the pair are well cared for, the zoo has assembled a dedicated team of seven individuals, comprising five caretakers, a nutritionist and a veterinarian.

The two pandas will meet the public after a period of adaptation.

The Wuhan Zoo has been undergoing renovations since Jan. 1, 2021. As part of this comprehensive upgrade, particular attention has been given to the Giant Panda Pavilion. In August, the pavilion successfully passed inspection by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, meeting the stringent standard for living conditions required for giant pandas.
