A delegation of Shanghai-based expats visited Hubei province's Wuhan, formerly China's epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic, from Sep 3 to 5.

Led by the Shanghai People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, delegates from countries including the United States, Japan and Singapore visited Tongji Hospital affiliated with Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Hongshan district.

The designated hospital was where COVID-19 patients in severe condition were treated. According to Tang Zhouping, executive vice president of the hospital, the hospital has shared its experience with countries such as Italy and Germany via online platforms.

Delegates also visited the Changchun Street Primary School in Jiang'an district. Classes have resumed, albeit with the introduction of rigorous anti-epidemic measures.

Other places the delegates visited included food markets, scenic spots and the first batch of companies that resumed work months ago. They learned from these enterprises how streamlined production processes have been optimized to improve efficiency.

According to the association, Wendy Chen, a representative of Florida, the US, wrote on a social networking platform that she found it hard to imagine that Wuhan, once shrouded in fear just a few months ago, has already recovered from the ordeal.
